What is Morse code?
Morse code encodes letters and numbers as sequences of short signals (dits, written ·) and long signals (dahs, written −). Invented in the 1830s for the electric telegraph by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail, the international (ITU) standard is still used today by amateur radio operators, in aviation beacons, and in accessibility devices.
Timing rules
Everything is measured in units of one dit: a dah lasts 3 units, the gap between symbols in a letter is 1 unit, the gap between letters is 3 units, and the gap between words is 7 units. At the standard "PARIS" rate, one unit is 1.2 ÷ WPM seconds.

How do I write Morse code here?
Use a dot . for dit and a dash - for dah. Put one space between letters and a / between words. The translator also understands •, ·, _ and long dashes.
How do the sound and light outputs work?
⚡ Flash light turns the whole screen into a Morse lamp — it flashes your message in white on black (with the tone playing too, and looping if Loop is on). How does the decoder work?
The receiver measures how long the signal is on and off, adapts to the sender's speed automatically, and turns the timing back into dits and dahs. For sound it tracks the loudest tone between 250 and 1600 Hz; for light it tracks the brightest spot in the frame. It works live from the microphone or camera, and on uploaded recordings: audio files are scanned for the tone, and videos are checked for a tone first and then for flashing light in the picture. What does SOS look like?
... --- ... — three dits, three dahs, three dits, sent as one continuous prosign. It was chosen because it is unmistakable, not as an abbreviation.
What speed should I learn at?
Most teachers recommend the Koch method with Farnsworth timing: characters sent fast (18–20 WPM) with extra spacing between them, so you learn the rhythm of each letter rather than counting dots.
Is my text, audio, or video sent anywhere?
